For our fourth quarter project the objective was to come up with an invention that we would have to present to "investors" and my group and I came up with 'Smart Glove'. It took my group and I the whole quarter to finish our project, as well as put together the presentation for the "investors". We started out in the animation rotation which was a challenge because that meant that we wouldn't have our logo until the end. We had to make all of our animations and videos without the logo and then we had to put it back in later. This project made me realize that sometimes patience is key and everyone works at different paces. Team work really does depend on communication and I was fortunate to have a group that I enjoyed working with. One piece of feedback that was given to my group and I was that "... our website and commercial didn't go with our product." We did not get a chance to fix this but if we could, we would probably change our website to look more modern with neutral tones. My group did a nice job of putting in effort and making it look presentable.
Our group did a nice job of staying focused in class and communicating whenever we were working on different parts of the project. As soon as one of us finished something we would ask everyone else in the group what they thought and how we could make it better. As a group, we stayed after school a couple of days to make sure we had everything finished. Sydney and I also spent some extra days after school fixing and finishing parts of the project.
Word mark for our company "Smartech".
After one year of e-Communication I think my strength would be graphic design. I learned so much in my graphic design rotation like C.A.R.P. and how to use it when designing. I definitely still have a lot of room to grow and learn new objectives and properties. For the project, I designed the coupon and the word mark for the logo. While I was working on these
designs I took into account the different principles that Mr. Olson taught our class and I thought about what it would be like to work for an actual client. I still need to improve in video, trying to incorporate all the different shots into one video. As time goes on, I imagine that ill be able to improve and eventually make it one of my strengths.
Although it was a challenge at first, I like how the teachers paired us with people that had different personality types. This helps us recognize the fact that we will not always be working with friends or acquaintances in a real job. Next year I would like to grow and go more into detail in graphic design and video. This was a challenging project but I think it gave everyone an insight for whats to come and a look into the professional world.
